An acclaimed architect, artist and collector, William Lim shares his experience as a patron of the contemporary Hong Kong art scene. His collection is now regarded as the most significant private collection of Hong Kong art from the past two decades, cemented by a donation in 2020 of 90 pieces to M+.

About the Speaker

Dr. William Lim

Architect, artist and collector

William Lim is a renowned supporter of Hong Kong’s contemporary art scene. Together with his wife, the Lims started collecting in the early 2000s, beginning with Chinese antiques before branching into contemporary art.

Their collection, known as the Living Collection, is a unique document of Hong Kong art's trajectory in the twenty-first century, a status cemented by the Lims’ 2020 donation of 90 pieces to Hong Kong’s museum of visual culture, M+.

Ms. Catherine Kwai

Founder and CEO of Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery

Since the gallery’s establishment in 1991, Catherine Kwai has been motivated by a desire to further artistic and cultural exchange between the East and West. Over three decades Kwai Fung Hin has launched over 160 gallery exhibitions, 13 institutional exhibitions, 52 catalogues and monographs, and 133 series of lithographs, earning a reputation for its expertise in 20th century modern art and Asian contemporary art.

About Kwai Fung Salone

Established by Kwai Fung Hin in 2022, Kwai Fung Salone is a platform for art and cultural programming located in Tai Kwun, the symbolic heart of Hong Kong’s cultural heritage scene.

The Salone houses exhibitions and events that champion both local talents and international masters across different artistic, literary and cultural disciplines.
