Course description
One of Hong Kong’s most important curators and educators, Szeto’s lecture coincides with the publication of his latest book, “Wu Guanzhong ‧ Hong Kong ‧ Museum of Art” (2022). The former Chief Curator of HKMoA will talk about the life and artistic development of Wu Guanzhong, one of the fathers of Chinese modernism, as well as share his insights into Hong Kong’s art scene.

About the Speaker
Mr. Szeto Yuen-kit
Former Chief Curator of Hong Kong Museum of Art
Mr. Szeto Yuen-kit has worked in the Hong Kong Museum of Art (HKMoA) as Chief Curator (and previously Curator), responsible for the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Collections including the Xubaizhai, Chih Lo Lou and Wu Guanzhong. He has organised several important exhibitions of ancient Chinese painting and calligraphy at various museums, and many solo exhibitions of 20th century masters including Qi Baishi, Li Keran, Lin Fengmian, Pan Tianshou, Feng Zikai and Wu Guanzhong. Since 1995, HKMoA has collected more than 450 paintings and archival materials of Wu Guanzhong. Mr. Szeto has recently consolidated these precious materials into the latest publication Wu Guanzhong ‧Hong Kong‧Museum of Art.
Mr. Szeto received his Bachelor Degree (Art Education) from the University of Warwick, U. K., and a Master of Philosophy Degree (Chinese Art History) from the University of Hong Kong. He was also granted a Diploma in Museum Studies by the University of Sydney, Australia. His major fields of research include Ming, Qing and 20th century painting, as well as subjects related to Chinese art education.
