Published to accompany Oswaldo Vigas’s retrospective exhibition at the Guangdong Museum of Art (Bai’etan), the catalogue offers an in-depth survey of one of Latin America’s most original voices through the diverse perspectives of the Global South. Presenting Vigas’s oeuvre spanning more than seventy years, it highlights his boundaries-breaking practice which negotiates between abstraction and figuration, modernity and ancestry, European influences and the cultural memory of Latin America.

The publication features new scholarly essays by co-curators Gabriela Rangel and Jiang Jun, alongside presentation of all the exhibited artworks as well as comprehensive chronology enriched with rarely seen archival materials, inviting readers to reconsider the single narrative of modernism beyond Eurocentric frameworks.

Co-organized with Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery and supported by the Oswaldo Vigas Foundation, the exhibition is Vigas’s first major retrospective in a national museum. It places Latin American modernism in a dynamic dialogue with Chinese culture, helping to expand the discourse of modern art.

Orders can be tracked from a tracking number that will be provided in an email to you when the book ships. Please note that it may take several hours from the time an order ships to the time it is first scanned by the carrier into their system.

All orders are processed in 5-10 business days, not including weekends. After that, standard delivery time within Hong Kong is 3-7 business days and 10-14 business days for international orders. Please keep in mind that during busy periods and holidays these times may vary.
