About Kwai Fung Art Publishing House

With a firm belief in the value of quality art literature for connecting an artist with his audience, Kwai Fung Hin invests considerable resources in art book production, encouraging continued and engaging discourse around the oeuvres of its artists.

For such purposes, we established Kwai Fung Art Publishing House in 2006. We work with artists and their estates, academics, curators and critics to bring in-depth and authoritative research to readers, whilst collaborating with international publishers such as Flammarion and Rizzoli to ensure wider and systematic distribution of our publications.

Since 2006, we have published over 50 monographs and exhibition catalogues, including Zao Wou-Ki: 1935-2008 (2010), the most complete monograph available on the artist.

We are proud to present this catalogue Oswaldo Vigas: Return, Always Return, published on the occasion of the first solo exhibition of the Venezuelan artist in Asia and the first with Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery, from 16 December 2023 to 31 January 2024.

This publication celebrates Vigas's outstanding achievements and examines his influence in both the South American and post-war Parisian art scenes. Emphasizing ''return'' as the artist's guiding artistic vision to tie his progressive and boldly diverse oeuvre together, it delves into the four major periods of Vigas' s career, retracing his path from a young promising artist, who was the first Venezuelan to draw on pre-Columbian cultural heritage, to becoming an influential figure with a full control of his own unique language that moved freely between figuration and abstraction.
