About Artist: 

Xue Song was born in Anhui, China in 1965, and graduated from the Stage Design Department of the Shanghai Theater Academy in 1988. Over nearly four decades, he has bridged East and West, historical memory and contemporary reality, traditional culture and contemporary viewpoints. He is recognized as one of the key figures in Chinese Pop Art. 

A studio fire in 1991 led to his distinctive creative methods centered on “burning” and “collage.” Using flames and ashes as media, Xue Song reassembles print fragments into entirely new images, exploring themes such as Global Pop, Local Pop, Metropolis, New Landscape, Dialogue between the East and West, Text and Calligraphy. After 2019, inspired by Daoist philosophy, he developed “The Dao from Nature” series, forsaking recognizable cultural symbols or historical narratives in favor of imagery drawn from nature and universal elements, seeking a purer, more liberated realm.

He has held solo exhibitions at institutions including the Shanghai Art Museum, Long Museum, Xi’an Art Museum, MOCA in Singapore, and the Ueno Royal Museum in Japan. His works are collected worldwide, such as the National Art Museum of China, Shanghai Art Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Kunstmuseum Bonn, Fondation Cartier, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and M+ in Hong Kong.

關於藝術家：

薛松，1965 年生於中國安徽，1988 年畢業於上海戲劇學院舞台美術系。在近四十年的創作中，將東方與西方、歷史記憶與當下現實、傳統文化與現代觀念結合，被譽為中國波普藝術最重要的藝術家之一。

1991 年的一次畫室火災，促成了他以「燃燒」和「拼貼」為核心的獨特創作方式。他以火焰和灰燼為媒介，將各種印刷品殘片拼貼組合成全新形象，探索全球波普、本土波普、大都市、新山水、中西對話、文字與書法等主題。 2019 年後，薛松受道家哲學啟發創作「法自然」系列，摒棄可辨識的文化符號和歷史敘事，轉而運用萬物與自然的意象，追求更純粹的自由境界。

薛松曾在上海美術館、龍美術館、西安美術館、新加坡 MOCA、日本上野之森美術館等舉辦個展。作品被國際重要機構收藏，包括中國美術館、上海美術館、美國波士頓美術館、德國波恩現代藝術博物館、法國卡地亞藝術基金會、比爾蓋茲藝術基金會、香港 M+ 等。
