We are proud to present this catalogue Worlds Beyond Reality — Monet's Legacy, published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition at Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery, from 4 January to 18 April 2023.

The exhibition centred around a masterpiece of Claude Monet created during his early years at Giverny – Pivoines (1887), alongside a selection of outstanding works of modernist Zao Wou-Ki, Chu Teh-Chun and Lalan, and contemporary artists David Hockney, Shara Hughes, Myonghi Kang and Ziad Dalloul, offering a rare opportunity of comparative study of them, unveiling an interesting, though not the only, cross-section of Monet's legacy.

Complemented by an overview from curator Mr. Edward Fung, a total of 11 works from 8 artists are each featured with a concise note of analysis prepared by our curatorial and research team from substantial information collection and studies. The result is a respectable attempt to explore how Claude Monet and his Impressionist comrades opened the gateway for the continuous expansion of imagination by landscape artists in the following 150 years and beyond in their discovery of transcendental worlds beyond reality.

Furthermore, this booklet also contains a selection of scene-of-exhibition taken from different angles serving to preserve our pleasant memories of the delicately designed backdrop of the show.
